Meet Carrie Hunter, LCSW!
Hi, I’m Carrie (she/her), a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and the therapist behind Carrie’s Compassion Corner. I created this space for young adults, especially women of color, who are tired of holding it all together. Many of the clients I work with show up for everyone else with ease, but quietly wonder if they’ll ever feel “enough” for themselves. They often feel overwhelmed, unsure how to show up for themselves without guilt, and worn down by the pressure to be strong all the time.
As a Black woman, I know how familiar this struggle can feel. I’ve wrestled with finding my voice, questioning if I was too much or not enough, trying to blend in, and holding myself to impossible standards of perfection and always feeling like I had to get it “just right.” Learning to soften those patterns, to trust that I am enough without proving it, has deeply shaped how I show up as a therapist. I created Carrie’s Compassion Corner in spring 2024 to be the space I needed; one where you don’t have to perform, explain, or shrink yourself. Here, you get to be seen, heard, and supported, just as you are.
I help young adults navigate anxiety, self-doubt, perfectionism, life transitions, and the quiet pressure of always being the “strong one.” In therapy, I offer a warm, steady presence where we’ll move at your pace. We’ll untangle the patterns you’ve been carrying, explore what’s holding you back, and begin building self-compassion, self-trust, and space for you to show up for yourself without guilt.
Whether you’re learning how to quiet your inner critic, processing past experiences, navigating relationship challenges, or simply looking for a space to express yourself freely, I’d be honored to walk with you.
At Carrie’s Compassion Corner, you don’t have to carry it all alone anymore.
If you’re ready for a space where you don’t have to hold it all together, I’d love to work with you. Whether you’re just starting therapy for the first time or returning after some time away, you’re welcome here — messy thoughts, big feelings, and all. Reach out to schedule a free 15-minute consultation. Let’s take this next step together.
How I Show Up in Therapy
Let’s be real! You’ve probably spent a lot of time being “the strong one,” holding it all together, and maybe even second-guessing if you’re allowed to need help too. In therapy, you won’t be asked to fix everything overnight as I won’t give you quick fixes. We’ll go at your pace, exploring whatever feels important the pressure to always be enough, the inner critic, relationship patterns, or just the weight of it all. This is your space to breathe, untangle, and reconnect with yourself without guilt.
